Came upon the problem when reformating a Dell NT4 machine (400MHz w/ Adaptec 2940u, 128 MB) the next floppy (disk 3) after setting the install partition. I tried changing the Adaptec driver but had no success, because the Adaptec (On-board) SCSI version was a different version and implemented by the Mfg. I

When you removed the scsi card you should have remmed out the scsi driver in the config.sys file. I would replace everything as it was and try and get it working again. So I reinstalled the Adaptec controller I had been using, leaving the CDRs on the Tekram and putting the scanner alone on the Adaptec 2940U.
