If the write cache is still enabled, then your Windows SCSI driver is the culprit.. If the write cache is disabled, then your drive doesn't support write caching in its firmware. NEC CDROM Drivers? 24x to 32X
Since I am in an all SCSI environment, this is causing just a few problems. The SCSI board is an Adaptec AHA-2940UW and I have the latest BIOS patch and driver. Note: NT does recognise, as part of it's OS, the AHA-2940U. Unfortunately this is no good to me. Any advice would be welcome. Kind Regards Mike.

So something on your SCSI chain is creating the problem. Then send the info about the offending device to Be, so they can fix their SCSI driver. Fest3er.

Are you running an Adaptec 2940u or other SCSI card installed on your system by any chance? I wonder if the Iomega driver is conflicting with Adaptec's SCSI driver... Thoughts? I have the parallel port Zip attached to my laptop, so the only "SCSI" adapter is the Dual port EIDE adapter. Going back to the WINNT12

when the system is shut down and the Adaptec media scan is run, it finds no errors, OR the errors it does find are not anywhere the block numbers supposedly reassigned. We have used four different 2940 or 2940U SCSI adapters, different cables, power supplies, motherboards (all Intel), and memory.

SCSI DRIVER [HELP...]
I am using an Adaptec 2940U SCSI card with my HP4020i and Win 95 couldn't read from the drive ("Drive not accessible" error). I have used the newest Adaptec drivers and tried everything mentioned in the HP web sites. All it can fix is the "7+ CD-ROM" problem, but the drive is still not accessible for reading.

I've installed an Adaptec AHA-2940U in all my systems. You power off, plug it in, cable it up, power on, Win9x recognizes the card, it automatically loads the driver, density,wide scsi etc it sound so complicated....can anyone warn me of any problems I might encounter......will I need a scsi driver for example.
